Meaningful Vows Templates

Beng and I were selecting our vows last night. It is very meaningful.

Pastor Ed and Pastor David gave us a list of vows templates so that we can choose one and MEMORIZE it for our vows renewal ceremony. Our immediate thoughts were, “Wah Piang! So long!” Sensing our thoughts, Pastor Ed told us not to choose the shortest version, instead to choose something that is meaningful for both of us. We can cut and paste from the different templates given and make up our own and we do not need to use the same vows. The point is, it must be meaningful for both of us.

So, as we go through the list of vows last night, I was thinking how beautiful some phrases are and how applicable they are to our lives right now. I begin to think that this vows renewal ceremony is more meaningful than ever.

When we got married almost 10 years ago, we were looking at the Justice of Peace (JP) in his eyes/lips as we repeat our vows after him. Come to think of it, I think we vowed to take care of the JP for better or worse and not for each other! He must be very blessed since a lot of couples have vowed to take care of him!

I have decided! We must memorize our vows and recite our vows in front of each other, looking at each other in our eyes, not at our feet, not at Pastor Ed, nor at someone else!

But still….vows very long leh…. Pastor Ed, can discount or not?

Hello Ding Dawn,

It is really a big surprise! When i told Joshua about your wedding, his reaction was 'What happened to Beng and Dawn?. When I assure him that the bridegroom is still Beng, he burst out laughing. I kinda know the background about how two of you got married and met and saved in the Lord. I can't agree more on you having another wedding to renew your vow again. May God bless you!
